Description

Editing eim_idf.json could queue the same "ESP-IDF Installation Changed" dialog once per watcher event, so the prompts appeared one after another. A second prompt is now ignored while one is already waiting or open. Other queued dialogs, such as ESP-IDF Setup and IDF Launch Target Changed, still show in order.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Prevented repeated eim_idf.json prompts from appearing while an identical prompt is already queued or open.
    • Kept unrelated modal dialogs available, so distinct prompts can still be shown in sequence. This reduces interruptions from duplicate messages without changing how other dialogs are displayed.

📝 Walkthrough

GlobalModalLock adds an overload that accepts a queue key and skips duplicate non-null keys. The existing overload passes a null key. Dialog cleanup releases the semaphore and removes the key in the worker thread. The EIM JSON change handler supplies a key for its prompt.

GlobalModalLock adds a keyed showModal overload. It skips a request when its non-null key is already queued or visible; null-key requests are not deduplicated. The worker thread releases the semaphore and removes the key after UI execution. EimJsonUiChangeHandler supplies the eim_idf.json key for its prompt.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Release the key when the question dialog closes.

queuedDialogs retains the key while callback.accept(result) runs. If eim_idf.json changes after the question closes but during validateConfig() or updateLastSeenState(), the new request is discarded and is not queued for later. openQuestion returns after the user closes the question, while syncExec waits for the entire runnable. (help.eclipse.org)

Remove the key after dialogSupplier.get() completes, before the callback. Keep the semaphore until the callback finishes. Ensure final cleanup cannot remove a key registered by a newer request.
