RNG state across calls.

time from the data_cell_index id rather than advancing timeGenerator by callback
invocation order. Preserve the rntuple_source.time publication and serial
concurrency configuration, ensuring event indices receive deterministic
non-ascending-safe time offsets regardless of callback order.

It would be good to explain the approximate time ordering somewhere and referencing e.g. a paper explaining the approach in more detail.
I'm not sure whether exact time ordering might be possible in a threadsafe way if we know the exact number of entries ahead of time.

✅ clang-tidy: no new issues |
|
Now we have two options! |
|
Merging the name fix seems to have broken everything. Mind if I rebase this and get it to run? I think the ordering etc. are all fine. |

checked_event_countasinline.This header defines a non-template, non-inline function at namespace scope. Two translation units that include
common.hppwill each emit a definition, and the link then fails with an ODR violation. Today onlyread_sim_file.cppincludes it. Any second consumer, such as a unit test, breaks the build.Proposed fix

<array>and<algorithm>includes.The file uses
std::arrayandstd::sortbut does not include<array>or<algorithm>. It compiles today only because another header includes them indirectly. Themake_cachefunction also usesint n_layersto compute1 << n_layerswithout validation. A negative or largecacheDepthcauses undefined behavior.Based on learnings: "add the direct include" when a header relies on incidental header leakage.

@olantwin This looks to be good now. I think the test failures are because it is not with the latest data-model commit. You can now select your choice of time ordering at run time. |

Fixes #22
This will save time later on and be a bit more realistic.
Note this is not strictly time ordered, only approximately. Perhaps that is ok if we don't expect to get data from the detector in strict time ordering. I haven't been able to find a way to do an exact time ordering that is not computationally expensive.
